Color

Color that stays true — and correction when it hasn't.

Jeannie is first and foremost a colorist. Dimensional color, highlights, balayage and gray blending that look like your hair on its best day; and when a box dye or another salon has gone wrong, the patient, technical work to bring it back.

Color services

All-over color and root touch-ups. Rich, even color matched to your skin tone and the way you actually live — with formulas chosen so blondes stay bright rather than brassy and brunettes keep their depth.

Highlights, lowlights and balayage. Foil work for precise brightness, hand-painted balayage for a softer grow-out, or a blend of both for dimension that reads natural in daylight.

Gradual gray blending. Softening the line between your natural gray and color so regrowth is gentle and appointments can be spaced further apart — a specialty of Melissa's.

Color correction

This is the work Charleston clients most often find us for. Banding, hot roots, orange from a lightener that stopped short, green from well water, a fashion color that won't lift — each has a different fix, and rushing it is how hair gets damaged. Jeannie will assess the hair's condition and history, explain what's realistic in one visit versus two, and give you a straight price before starting.

Corrections are booked with extra time. Please tell us what's been done to the hair in the last year, including box color, when you request an appointment.

Why clients drive in for color

Jeannie trained at Matrix, Arrojo and other advanced academies in New York and has spent more than thirty years refining her color work. Reviews mention the same things again and again: blonde that doesn't turn brassy, color that lasts, and hair "fixed after a bad experience elsewhere." Clients come from across Charleston, South Charleston, St. Albans, Hurricane and beyond — and some plan trips home around their color appointment.

Questions

How long does a color correction take?

Anywhere from two to five hours depending on what needs to be undone. Some corrections are safest over two visits. We'll tell you which after seeing your hair.

How much does hair color cost in Charleston at Jeannie's?

We quote after a consultation because length, density and hair history change the work involved. Call (304) 344-3659 or request an appointment and we'll talk it through — no surprises at checkout.

Can you fix orange or brassy hair?

Yes — that's one of the most common corrections we do. Whether it needs toning, a second lift or a color-melt depends on the hair's condition, which we assess in person.

Do you do balayage and highlights?

Yes. Foil highlights, hand-painted balayage, lowlights and combinations for natural-looking dimension.
