Hair salon · Charleston, West Virginia
Hair done properly, in a quiet studio on the West Side.
Jeannie's Hair Care Studio is a private, two-chair salon at 38 Ohio Avenue in Charleston — cuts, color, color correction, the American Wave and smoothing, from a colorist with more than thirty years behind the chair and training in New York.
Jeannie would rather talk it through — calls and texts are answered Tuesday to Friday.
Services
Everything a good salon should do — and a few things most in Charleston don't.
We keep the menu focused so we can do each thing well. Appointment lengths vary a lot by service, so we confirm every booking personally.

The studio
Two chairs, no waiting room crowd, and someone who remembers how you like your hair.
Jeannie's is deliberately small. You get the stylist's full attention from consultation to finish, in a calm, secluded space just off the West Side's Ohio Avenue — with free parking at the door, a restroom, coffee, and yes, a candy dish.
Jeannie trained at Matrix, Arrojo and other advanced academies and brings New York technique to Charleston; she specializes in hair color and the American Wave. Melissa Woodruff, a master colorist since 1999 and a Keratherapy educator, covers color, gray blending and every kind of texture service. Clients drive in from South Charleston, St. Albans, Dunbar, Nitro, Cross Lanes and Hurricane — and a few fly in from out of state.

Love love love what Jeannie does with my hair! The color stays a true blonde and does not get brassy. And she cuts it exactly the way I ask her to.
She did a great job on my hair after it was totally botched up by another stylist. Wish I didn't live out of state or I'd be a regular.
Wonderful service, amazing atmosphere.
Staff is really friendly and I'm super happy with my haircut.
Loved going to Jeannie for a cut and color! I'm from out of town and have been going to the same stylist for years. Great prices and professionalism.
Oh, and there's candy for your sweet tooth and offers of refreshments.
Color
The thing people drive across the valley for.
Dimensional color, gray blending and the correction work that fixes what a box or another chair got wrong. Jeannie has spent thirty years on color specifically, and Melissa is a master colorist — between them there isn't much they haven't put right.

A studio built for the work and attached to Jeannie's own home — two chairs, a landscaped entrance, a private garden out back for catching the air on a good day, and a welcoming committee of rescue dogs who consider themselves staff.

Serving the Kanawha Valley
A Charleston hair salon worth the drive.
We're on the West Side of Charleston, ten minutes from the Capitol and downtown, and an easy drive from South Charleston, Dunbar, Cross Lanes, Nitro, St. Albans, Hurricane and Teays Valley. Clients who move away keep coming back on visits home — for color that stays true, cuts that grow out well, and the kind of attention you don't get in a high-volume salon.
